ABSTRACT
The concept of national culture is voluminous and includes a huge period of time beginning from the present century to the ancient times when nations and various national cultural communities were just taking shape. Because of this long period of time, the words and different linguostylistic means expressing the above mentioned relations are very old as well. And so are the words given to them: such as father, mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, son-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, uncle, aunt, etc. The proper names given to people are also old such as Adam, Eve, Abel, Ada, Sarah, and Cain.
The minute genealogical studies show that the names of people were, from the very beginning, an expression of a sort of bewitching ban. This is confirmed by various genealogical, as well as by mythological and religious investigations. The considerations of the ethnographer J. Freser are noteworthy in terms of the bewitching bans given to people. They are based on the idea that in the ancient world and in various peoples, many concepts came into existence as a result of keeping people’s names secret or making them secret. A question is bound to arise: what were the reasons of such a behaviour? There is no unanimously agreed explanation to the question that the prevailing idea is that a person’s name was considered something sacral and not an ordinary label given to him/her.
